This is not one of those anonymous fandom confessions. My thoughts, my words, my observations. I’ve been in fandom for a long, long time and I’ve seen it far too frequently to count.

I had had the privilege of not noticing fandom attitudes towards women of colour until very recently, and I have to say that it sickens me.
It seems that no matter what the role of women of colour, they can’t escape demonisation. Whether they’re the bravest, nicest, most talented, most interesting characters on the show or whether they’re entirely mediocre by nature.
